Virtual Effective Diameter:
The effective diameter of a thread but allowing for
errors in pitch and flank angles.
Voids: Voids are internal fissures in ferrous
material. They are sometimes called ‘chrome checks,”
“fish eyes,” “shatter cracks” and “snowflakes.”
